DHS and Mill Creek Choir Director
Mrs. Julie Bassett
Julie Bassett, is currently Director of Choirs
at Dexter High School and Mill Creek Middle School. Mrs. Bassett holds a BA in music and a BS in vocal and instrumental music education from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. She has completed Master's course work in Choral Performance from
Eastern Michigan University. This is Mrs. Bassett has been teaching at Dexter Community Schools since 2006. During her time in Dexter she has taught fifth through twelfth grade choirs and has served as the vocal director for Dexter High School Drama Club.

Creekside Choir Director
Sydney Gembke
Ms. Gembka is currently the choir director at Creekside, and teaches Y5 through 2nd grade music at the DEEC. Primarily trained in classical percussion, she received her Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance and Music Education from the University of Michigan. During her time at U of M, Ms. Gembka performed with the Symphony Band, Symphony Orchestra, Vencedores Samba Band, and Percussion Ensemble. In July 2022, she went on tour with the percussion ensemble, premiering Michael Gordon's Field of Vision at Caramoor Festival, PS21 and Bang on a Can. Originally from Ohio, Ms. Gembka sang alto in her high school's a capella choir. She also played percussion in the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, including performances with Melissa Etheridge and Kenny Loggins. Outside of music, Ms. Gembka enjoys making ceramics, tap dancing, yoga, and ballet.
